The red lights on the front of the SAMi Camera are infrared illuminators. These lights enable good image quality, even in complete darkness. You can turn them off but you will need to provide your own infrared illuminators if you want the camera to be able to function in the dark. This means that if the infrared lights are turned off and the room is dark, the SAMi Camera will not be able to see in the dark - removing the cameras ability to detect and alert to motion. 

To turn the infrared lights on or off, you will need to navigate to the settings page in the SAMi App located in the bottom right of the app. Then navigate to "Camera Settings" at the top of the page. From there, you can toggle the infrared light on or off.
