The Motion Button in the SAMi App is a valuable tool for visually testing and fine-tuning your motion detection settings. It is located in the Live View screen, and when activated, it gives you a clear, real-time display of what the SAMi Camera is detecting as motion.

👀 What Happens When You Press the Motion Button?

When you tap the Motion Button while viewing the live feed:

• The live video stream will begin highlighting motion in red.

• Areas of movement within the camera’s view will be outlined or shaded in red to make them easy to spot.

• This visual overlay shows you exactly what the camera is detecting as motion—in real time.

✅ This motion overlay is only visible in Live View and does not appear in saved recordings.

🔧 Why Is the Motion Button Useful?

Enabling the Motion Button helps you with:

1. Testing Motion Sensitivity

• Easily see how subtle or significant motion must be to trigger detection.

• Walk into the room, move a limb, or simulate the type of motion you’re concerned about.

• Instantly view how the camera responds.

2. Adjusting Alarm Settings

• Fine-tune your Motion Threshold and Alarm Threshold settings 

• Use the visual feedback to ensure that only the desired types of motion will trigger an alarm.

• Avoid false alarms caused by minor or non-relevant movements like blankets shifting or pets entering the frame.

• Identifying motion occurring from unwanted bedroom regions like a fan or curtain so you can adjust yoru border size.

3. Room Setup & Positioning

• Use the motion overlay to check the camera angle and room coverage.

• Make sure the bed or target area is fully visible and that important motion zones are within the camera’s active field.

📝 Important Notes

• The motion overlay will not be saved in recorded video events.

• The feature is most effective when used while configuring your system, visually identifying where motion is occurring when monitoring the live feed, or troubleshooting false alarms.

• The red-highlighted motion areas give a quick, visual reference for what the camera sees, so you can align your settings accordingly.

1. Open the SAMi App on your iOS device.

2. Go to the Live View screen.

3. Tap the Motion Button at the bottom of the screen

4. Watch the live feed—any detected movement will be shown in red.
