Configuring the SAMi Router & the TP-Link Range Extender

If you have purchased a TP-Link Range Extender, please follow these instructions to pair it with you SAMi Router. If you need further assistance, please submit a support request. 

1. Set Up Your SAMi Router
   • Plug in the SAMi Router into a power outlet.
   • Use a cable to connect the blue WAN port on the SAMi Router to your internet source (like a modem).
2. Install the TP-Link Range Extender
   • Plug in the TP-Link range extender close to the SAMi Router.
3. Download and Use the Tether App
   • Download the “TP-Link Tether” app from your mobile device app store.
   • Change your mobile device WiFi network to “SAMi-5G” network using the password 19920801
   • Select “Archer A54” (SAMi Router) and enter the admin password sami19920801
4. Configure the Range Extender:
   • Go to the main app screen, tap the "+" icon, then choose “Add a Range Extender.”
   • Make sure the extender’s lights are steady.
   • Tap "LEDs are solid on."
   • Click on Join TP Network
   • Set Device Password to be: sami19920801
5. Configure 2.4G Network
   • Press "Join Network," then select "Other Network" at the bottom.
   • Type in Network Name (SSID) for the 2.4G network (case sensitive): SAMi
   • Set the password to be blank
   • Set the Security to be NONE
   • Tap "Next."
6. Configure 5G Network:
   • Select “SAMi-5G” network from the list
   • Security: WAP2/WAP3
   • Password 19920801
7. Verify Main Network Settings
   • Double-check the network names and passwords:
     • 2.4G: Network: "SAMi", Password: (NONE)
     • 5G: Network: "SAMi-5G", Password: 19920801
8. Specify Extended Network Names
   • By default all networks you previously outlined will be renamed with a suffix of _EXT. Go ahead and leave this as is.
   • Feel free to give a password to the SAMi_EXT network. You will need to use it in subsequent steps. You can also hide the SAMi_EXT network by going to the tether app and clicking: Extended Network, 2.4 GHZ network, Hide SSID.
   • Tap "Apply" and wait up to 4 minutes for settings to update.
9. Configure the SAMi Camera to the extender network.
   • Plug in the SAMi Camera and wait for the green light.
   • Go into the SAMi3 App and click on the gear icon & then settings.
   • Click on Camera Settings
   • Go to Camera WiFi [SAMi] and click Change.
   • Wait for the networks to appear and click on SAMi_EXT
   • Set the password to be blank (or whatever you set earlier)
   • Set the Security to be NONE (Keep on the default value if you set a password in the previous step)
   • Click continue & then Ok
10. Move the Extender:
    • Unplug your extender and put it half-way between where you intend to put the SAMi Camera and the SAMi Router.
    • Plug it in and wait for the lights to stop flashing.
    • If any of the icons are not illuminated green, you may have too far of a distance. 
      • To Debug this, connect to one of the _EXT networks you specified above and click on Main Network and see if any network is having issues.
    • Did you know, if you want greater stability and the distance is not too far, you can connect the SAMi Camera directly to the extender? Just plug in any network cable to the jack on the right side of the extender and the other end into the SAMi Camera.
11. Relocate the SAMi Camera
    • Move the SAMi Camera to your chosen spot and plug it in. Wait for the green light.

Congratulations! Your SAMi router and SAMi Camera are now configured to operate with the TP-Link extender.
