If you received a SAMi Complete Kit that had the SAMi App already downloaded to the iPad, this article will walk you through how to update the device with the following:

How to create an Apple ID Account

Depending on what device you are using, Apple explains how you can create an Apple ID in this article: How to Create An Apple ID

Adding Your Own Apple ID to an iPad

1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap the Sign in to your iPhone/Sign in to your iPad link at the top of the screen. If you see a Name or Photo here, follow the steps outlined in Part I above.
3. Enter the email address or phone number associated with the different Apple ID you want to Sign In with.
4. Enter the password.
5. If you already have some data on your device, such as Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, etc., you will be asked if you want to Merge that data with this new Apple ID you are Signing In with. Tap Merge if you want to merge data. Otherwise, tap Don’t Merge.

Updating the iOS System of the iPad

1. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with your home Wi-Fi. This will not work if you are connected to the SAMi-5G network.

2. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

3. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install. Usually the most recent version is best.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now.
   
   

We also suggest turning on automatic updates:

1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

2. Turn on Automatic Updates.

3. Turn on iOS Updates. Your device automatically updates to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.

Updating the SAMi App Version

Finally, you will need to update the SAMi App. If you have already been using the SAMi App, it's very important to do the following two things before you proceed:

1. Take screenshots of all your settings so you don't forget them

2. Email yourself all locked videos that you want to save from the SAMi App. You can review our article on how to email your self a recording here. 

3. Once you have save all of your videos and settings, you will then delete the SAMi App from the iPad. Here is how to delete an app from your phone or iPad.

4. Finally, go back to the app store and download the SAMi App. Here is a link that will take you to the SAMi App.
