If you have an existing SAMi Camera and you recently purchased a SAMi Router that you would like to pair with your camera, please follow these instructions. 

Important:

1. You do not need to plug the SAMi Router into your home router system. The SAMi Router is intended to work independently from your home wifi. 

2. NEVER reset your SAMi Router. This will require a process to reconfigure it. If that ever happens, please contact support using this form: https://support.samialert.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Setup Your SAMi Router

1. If possible, you should place the SAMi Router next to the camera and connect the SAMi Camera to the SAMi Router using the included ethernet cable. You will plug one end of the ethernet cable into the back of the SAMi Camera and the other end of the ethernet cable into an ORANGE-colored port on the back of the router. 

Note: If it is not possible to do this, you can skip this step.

2. Plug in the SAMi Router into power and press the black button on the back right of the router to power it on.It can take a few minutes for the router to power up. There should be four green lights on the router. 

3. Point all of the grey antennas up on the SAMi Router

4.  Once all four lights on the SAMi Router are green, proceed to the next step. 

Pair Your Apple Device To The SAMi Wifi Network

1. Connect the Apple Device you are using with the SAMi App to the new SAMi-5G Wifi Network by going to the Settings App on your Apple Device. Then select "Wi-Fi" and click on the "SAMi-5G" network. You will be prompted for a password. The password is located on the bottom of the SAMi Router on a black sticker. 

Note: It is normal for the wifi network to say "No Internet". That is because the SAMi Router only has a wifi network and is NOT connected to the internet. 

2. Once connected to the SAMi-5G network, go to the bottom of the wifi setting page and make sure "Ask to Join Networks" is turned to "Ask". If you do not do this, your Apple Device might connect to your home wifi in the middle of the night which can disconnect you from the SAMi Camera. 

3. You have now successfully connected to the SAMi wifi network. Proceed to the next steps. 

Resetting Your SAMi Camera And Pairing With The SAMi Router

1. Open the SAMi App once you are connected to the new SAMi-5G wifi network. You MUST be connected to the SAMi-5G wifi network for this to work. 

2. Remove the SAMi camera from the SAMi App by going to the settings gear in the bottom right of the screen, and then go to Camera Settings. Under Camera Status, hit "Remove". You will receive an error message that says:

Select "Remove"

3. Now, force quit the SAMi App.

3. With your SAMi Camera plugged into a power source, use an opened paperclip (or small pointy object) to briefly press the button in the hole on the side. Watch for the power light to go off for a couple of seconds before illuminating red and then green again.

4. Reopen the SAMi App and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new SAMi Camera.

You have now successfully reset your SAMi Camera and paired it with your new SAMi Router.
