Upgrade for Camera to iPad Kit

Thank you for your purchase of the SAM-3 Camera to Kit upgrade

1. Unpack and plug in the SAMi Wi-Fi Router. Use the provided black AC adapter. Ideally, pick at a location about halfway between where the camera will be mounted and where you plan on using the iPad. The best location is up high. Make sure the router is turned on. If the router has antennas, point one up and one to the side. Do not connect the SAMi router to your home router.

2. Turn on the iPad by pressing and holding the button on top. Connect the iPad to its charger using the cord in the iPad box. We recommend leaving the iPad connected to the charger as much as possible during use.  Set the iPad’s wifi settings to SAMi5G if not currently set.

3. Set the timezone and, if necessary, the time on the iPad. The iPad normally arrives set to the US Mountain Time zone. To set the time, touch the settings icon (looks like a gear). Then select “General” scroll down and select “Date & Time”. If “Set Automatically” is turned on, turn it off. When you are done, press the home button.

4. Reset your camera.  Depress the recessed reset button on the lower left side of the camera with an opened paperclip.  Hold for 3-4 seconds.  Watch for the camera power light to go off, then red then green.

5. Now start the SAMi3 app by touching the icon at the bottom of the screen labeled “SAMi3”. The app will give you the choice to add a SAMi3 camera.  Select this option and after a moment gives you the live view. When you see the live image, you can use it to adjust the aim if necessary. See the camera Quick Start Guide for an example of how to aim it. 

If the camera does not connect automatically, unplug both the router and the camera. Wait a few seconds then plug the router back in first. Wait until the router’s power and Wi-Fi lights are on. Then plug in the camera. The camera power light will initially be red. Once it connects to the router it will turn green. Once the power light is green, start the SAMi3 app again.

If the iPad still does not connect to the camera, check that the iPad's Wi-Fi setting is set to the SAMi or SAMi5g network (use the “Settings” app again).
